Design a character from scratch: look, face, personality, and first message. Your first one is free.

Your first character is free. While you create it, the generate buttons show Free instead of a price.

Where to start

Open My Characters and tap Create a character. The creator walks you through a few short steps, and you can edit everything before you start chatting.

Step by step

Step 1. Set the basics.

Choose the gender, age (18 to 70), style (Realistic or Anime), the world your character lives in, their vibe, and a few details about their look.

Step 2. Pick a face.

AI creates 3 face options, and you choose the one you like.

Step 3. Generate the body.

AI creates the full look of your character based on the face you picked.

Step 4. Tell us what they're like.

You'll see up to 12 short statements, one at a time, like "Flirts first and never gets embarrassed". Tap That's them or Not them. Every question is optional: you can stop at any point, and the rest is filled in based on the answers you've already given.

Step 5. Create the cover.

AI generates a cover image for your character's profile.

Along the way, AI also writes a name, a tagline, personality traits, and a first message. This part is always free, and you can change any of it by hand. Once you're done, your character appears in My Characters, and you can message them right away.

Good to know

Your characters are private. They're visible only to you and can't be published to Discovery or shared with other users.

No real photos. Characters in The Lounge are always created from scratch, so uploading a photo or using a real person's face isn't available.

Limits

Drafts	Up to 5 at a time. Finish or delete one to start another
Generations	There's an hourly limit on image and personality generations. If you reach it, take a short break and try again

Pro tips

Double-check the gender before generating images, especially if you left the page and came back.
Face options look too similar? Generate them again for more variety.
Write a short, specific first message. It sets the tone for your whole conversation.

FAQ

Can I publish my character or earn from it?

Not at the moment. Your characters are private and visible only to you, and there's no way to earn from them.

Why didn't my character send a photo in the greeting?

The free greeting photo comes from characters in Discovery. Your own characters start the chat with a message, and you can ask them for photos as you talk.

I can't delete a character I've already chatted with

For now, hide or delete the chat with that character instead. The character stays in My Characters. A hidden chat comes back when they write again, but once you delete the chat, they'll stop messaging you.

If I delete my first character, is the next one free?

No. The free creation applies to your first character only, even if you delete it later.
